Welcome to Avanti (abi) – specialised acquired brain injury rehabilitation services in St. Leonards-on-Sea.

Message for clients receiving services from Avanti (abi):

Coronavirus - update 20th March 2020

In line with government guidelines regarding social distancing and to protect all of our
clients, staff and their families, I have taken the decision to close the centre for an
indefinite period at short notice with effect from close of business this Friday (20th March
2020). Please be assured that this will not affect your placement. Hopefully the
restrictions will not need to be in place for too long.

We are intending to maintain a level of support to all clients wherever possible and will be
in close contact, offering home-based support on a one to one basis for as long as that is
permitted. This may be in the form of home visits where appropriate, telephone or
Facetime/Skype sessions or simply contact time. We are hoping to be able to deliver, or
arrange to have delivered, essentials (as long as they are available) to those of you who
are unable to leave your home for reasons of health. I also aim to have an on call
service available to you so that you have a way of contacting us if you have any
concerns. More details to follow. If you need extra care at home please let me know and
I will contact the relevant people on your behalf to try to arrange this.

I would like to encourage you all to form regular telephone links with other clients and to
check in with them by telephone on a daily basis or by agreement, as we are all going to
struggle with the isolation that will inevitably be imposed on us. If you would like any
telephone numbers of other clients I have a register of those who are happy for us to
share their numbers with other clients and I can pass on if you give me a ring. I would
also strongly encourage you to keep up your exercise regimes and to get outside for
walks or time in the garden when the weather permits - avoiding any non-essential
contact with other people (current recommendations are 2 metres/6 feet).

If you or anyone in your household becomes ill with any of the publicised symptoms or
with any other cold symptoms, you should let us know and are advised that you and your
whole household should self isolate for a minimum of 7 days. Further guidelines are
available for people needing to self isolate due to sickness.

Please be assured that we are doing everything that we can to keep you safe and to
avoid the spread of the virus. By working together with us and with the rest of the
country, we are hopeful that we can all come through this very difficult time unscathed.

Stay well, keep washing your hands and enjoy the sunshine whenever you can.

Ella. X. (Avanti (abi) manager).
